Trump administration delays deadline for insurers to calculate prices 3 weeks

The Trump administration pushed back the deadline for insurers to file final rates for 2018 ACA exchange plans in most states until Sept. 5, AHA News reports.

The nearly three-week delay aims to give insurers more time to devise products and prices amid uncertainty surrounding the future of federal cost-sharing reduction payments. CSRs help insurers subsidize the cost of coverage for low-income Americans.

States not allowing payers to modify 2018 rate filings must notify CMS by Sept. 5, according to a CMS memo. Final contracts for insurers participating in the exchanges next year are due Sept. 27, with open enrollment slated for Nov. 1.
