The Medicare ACOs that saved the most in 2022

Participants in the Medicare Global and Professional Direct Contracting model saved the program more than $300 million in net savings in 2022. 

According to CMS data published Oct. 23, savings increased by $70.4 million in 2022 over 2021. 

The Global and Professional Direct Contracting model was replaced with ACO REACH at the beginning of 2023, which has an increased emphasis on health equity outcomes. 

Here are the top 10 accountable care organizations by net savings rate in 2022:

    Net Savings: $37.7 million
    Net savings rate: 21.4%

    Net savings: $7.4 million 
    Net savings rate: 21.1% 

  1. CareConnect
    State: California
    Net savings: $4.6 million
    Net savings rate: 19.1% 

  1. Oak Street Health
    State: Illinois
    Net savings: $31 million
    Net savings rate: 18.6% 

  1. Enhanz
    State: Florida
    Net savings: $2.7 million
    Net savings rate: 14.8% 

  1. Primary Care 
    State: Florida
    Net savings: $22.9 million
    Net savings rate: 13.3% 

  1. AIP (Advanced Illness Partners) 
    State: Virginia
    Net savings: $14.7 million
    Net savings rate: 13.3%
