The initiative, launched in November, aims to improve rural healthcare in the state through several programs. One of the projects includes exploring how self-driving vehicles, drones and tele-connected ambulance services could affect healthcare transportation and access issues in rural communities.
The healthcare companies are also going to examine claims data before and after a hospital closure to get a better understanding of how such an incident affects a community’s health and mortality rates.
BCBS of Texas committed $10 million to the Texas A&M Health Science Center as part of the joint project.
