Tenn. Medicaid expansion supporters rally to greet returning lawmakers

Although Tennessee lawmakers rejected Governor Bill Haslam (R)’s Medicaid expansion proposal last year, advocates of the proposal rallied in the state Capitol Jan. 12 to greet lawmakers who were returning for the first day of the legislative session, according to The Associated Press.

The proposal, entitled Insure Tennessee, would give health coverage to 280,000 Tennesseans.

Gov. Haslam recently stated his doubts about the proposal going through, saying “it wasn’t like we just barely lost” last year, according to the report.
