Startup Cityblock Health expanding to Indiana to serve MDwise plan members

Cityblock Health, a New York City-based startup focused on providing care to low-income patients, is expanding to Indiana through a partnership with MDwise.

According to a Sept. 20 news release, the partnership is expected to serve around 10,000 Hoosiers on MDwise Medicaid and Medicare plans. MDwise provides health insurance to over 410,000 people in Indiana.

Cityblock Health provides medical care, behavioral health and social services through home care, telehealth and at Cityblock hubs.

"MDwise is excited to partner with Cityblock to bring their innovative value-based approach and proven outcomes to Indiana," Jessica Cromer, president and CEO of MDwise, said in the release. "Our most vulnerable members can be the hardest to reach, but we will be relentless in providing our members access to great healthcare to improve their health outcomes and quality of life."

The partnership is expected to create 100 new jobs in the state. The Indianapolis Business Journal reported that the state is offering Cityblock Health up to $3.2 million in performance-based tax credits and $100,000 in conditional training grants.

Cityblock, founded in 2017, currently operates in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and Ohio.
