Quarterly shareholder payouts for the ‘big 5’ payers

Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Humana and UnitedHealth Group announced quarterly payouts to their shareholders in the past few weeks.

Here are the payouts, listed from highest to lowest.

1. Shareholders of Indianapolis-based Anthem will obtain a dividend of $0.65 per share for the first quarter of 2017. The dividend is payable on March 24.
Share price as of Feb. 24: $163.83

2. Stockholders of Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna will receive a quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share of the payer’s common stock payable on April 28. The payout is double the dividend from the previous quarter.
Share price as of Feb. 24: $128.97

3. Louisville, Ky.-based Humana will pay a quarterly cash dividend of $0.40 per share to stockholders, a 38 percent increase from the previous quarter’s dividend of $0.29 per share. The payout is scheduled for April 28.
Share price as of Feb. 24: $207.28

4. Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth Group will issue a quarterly cash dividend of $0.625 per share on March 21 to all shareholders of UnitedHealth Group common stock.
Share price as of Feb. 24: $163.06

5. Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.04 per share of Cigna common stock to be paid to shareholders on April 10.
Share price as of Feb. 24: $147.04
