Justin Dynlacht was arrested on May 8 and charged with cyberstalking after more than a year of allegedly sending graphic threats over email, fax and mail to Aetna’s former president Daniel Finke, current president Brian Kane, CVS CEO Karen Lynch and other Aetna employees, along with employees at AstraZeneca.
The issue first began in November 2022 when Mr. Dynlacht sent a threatening letter to Mr. Finke regarding claims and appeals challenges related to Crohn’s disease treatments, according to the complaint. The threats continued through January 2023.
Aetna notified the pharmaceutical company about the communications, and Mr. Dynlacht was terminated. Executives at Aetna and AstraZeneca continued to receive “graphically violent threatening” letters from March 2023 to April 2024, which included threats to their minor age children.
The FBI executed a search warrant at Mr. Dynlacht’s residence in Rockville, Md. in May, where he was arrested. His arraignment is scheduled for June 13.
“As you are aware, Mr. Dynlacht has experienced a number of severe health setbacks in recent years which have caused him anguish,” Mr. Dynlacht’s attorney told The Daily Beast. “We are reviewing the government’s allegations against him and focusing on a plan to secure his release from custody so that he can receive the medical treatment he needs. At this juncture we are unable to comment on the matter.”
