The country’s largest payers reported year-over-year increases in medical cost ratios, with the exception of Elevance Health, which decreased 0.1%.

Aetna reported the highest medical loss ratio in the second quarter; it rose 3.4 percentage points year over year to 89.6%, driven by rising costs in inpatient care, dental and pharmacy.
