Five publicly traded companies have 50 percent of the Medicaid-managed care market, according to a July 6 analysis from KFF.

One in 5 Medicaid managed care beneficiaries are enrolled in Centene-run plans, according to the report. 

Here’s how the managed care market stacked up in 2020: 

  1. Centene: 22 percent
  2. Elevance Health: 11 percent
  3. UnitedHealthcare: 9 percent
  4. Molina Healthcare: 5 percent
  5. CVS Health: 5 percent 
  6. Other multistate firms: 12 percent
  7. Local MCOs: 38 percent
