Big payers ranked by Q1 revenues

The nation's largest payers have filed their first-quarter earnings reports, revealing which grew their revenues the most year over year.

1. Centene — 24 percent increase

In the first quarter of 2022, Centene's total revenues increased to $37.2 billion from $30 billion year over year.

2. Anthem — 17.6 percent increase

Anthem recorded total revenues of $38.1 billion in 2022, rising from $32.4 billion in 2021.

3. Humana — 16 percent increase

Humana's adjusted revenues in the first quarter were nearly $24 billion compared to nearly $20.7 billion in 2021.

4. UnitedHealth — 14.2 percent increase

UnitedHealth Group recorded $80.1 billion in first-quarter revenues, increasing from $70.2 billion in 2021. 

5. CVS Health (Aetna) — 11.2 percent increase

CVS Health's total revenues grew from $69.1 billion to $76.8 billion year over year. 

6. Cigna — 7.4 percent increase

Cigna's total revenue in 2022 was $44 billion, increasing from nearly $41 billion year over year.
