Five things to know:
1. Mr. Sankaran will join Oscar March 1, where he will oversee accounting, financial planning, pricing and plan design at the insurer’s New York City headquarters.
2. At AIG, he oversaw a balance sheet worth almost $500 billion and managed AIG’s financial operations, corporate development and capital market activities.
3. Before that, Mr. Sankaran was AIG’s chief risk officer and played a key role in the company’s restructuring and re-IPO.
4. Prior to AIG, he served as a partner in Oliver Wyman Financial Services’ finance and risk practice.
5. In August, Oscar reported net income of about $5 million in the first half of fiscal year 2018, a significant improvement from its $57.6 million loss in the first half of 2017.
