Oscar Health's Florida enrollment freeze lifted

Oscar Health is accepting new members in Florida after an eight-month pause on new sign-ups in the state.

Oscar Health froze enrollment in the state in mid-December 2022, in the middle of open enrollment on the ACA exchange. The payer said it had "proactively engaged" with CMS to limit enrollment to keep its size manageable.

On an Aug. 8 investor call, transcribed by Seeking Alpha, interim Oscar Health CFO Sid Sankaran said the agreement Oscar Health has with regulators in the state to reenter the market is roughly the same as its original agreement.

"We have always targeted having constructive and proactive relationships with our regulators. We expect that to continue, and we're very grateful for everyone's support as we've entered Florida and are excited to yet again have another successful open enrollment," Mr. Sankaran said.
