Oscar Health is providing members with an enhanced virtual cost estimation tool in an effort to increase medical cost transparency.
The tool provides individual and family plan members with the ability to anticipate and plan around future medical costs right from their account, according to a Jan. 20 news release.
Compared to other estimators, the calculator is the first to use real-time data and considers a member's plan and deductible status rather than relying on historical averages.
"We believe that individuals deserve control and choice when it comes to their coverage and care and that no one should face financial harm as a result of unknown medical costs," said Mario Schlosser, cofounder and CEO of Oscar Health. "This tool is one way we can ensure more cost transparency and give our members agency when it comes to their unique health journeys."
