Ohio hospital seeks $6M from Aetna over alleged breach of contract

An Ohio hospital is seeking more than $6 million in damages from Aetna, alleging the insurer is failing to pay patient bills, The Review reported June 2.

East Liverpool City Hospital alleges that Aetna refused to pay, or substantially underpaid, for hundreds of medical services provided to in-network Aetna members without valid reasons for doing so, according to the lawsuit filed May 31 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

The hospital alleges that by failing to pay for those services, Aetna breached its contract.
