Ohio Hospital Association partners with Rhyme to overhaul prior authorization systems

The Ohio Hospital Association is partnering with Columbus, Ohio-based Rhyme to improve efficiencies within prior authorization at hospitals and health systems across the state.

Rhyme, formerly known as PriorAuthNow, is the nation's largest integrated prior authorization network. The partnership went into effect in April, according to a June 8 news release.

The platform replaces the prior authorization process with intelligent collaboration between payers and providers by integrating into providers' existing workflows to make interactions faster.

Rhyme is currently the electronic prior authorization vendor with Akron Children's Hospital, Zanesville-based Genesis HealthCare System, the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Columbus-based OhioHealth and Cleveland-based University Hospitals.

"Ohio hospitals face significant workforce challenges and cost pressures that require exploring greater efficiencies in health care delivery. OHA chose to partner with Rhyme to offer our 250 member hospitals and 15 health systems the opportunity to streamline the prior authorization process," Mike Abrams, president and CEO of the Ohio Hospital Association, said. "Reducing the time and hospital staff needed to secure payer approvals reduces costs and eases the burden on patients, hospitals and payers."
