The event is scheduled for noon to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at Hotel InterContinental in Chicago.

The panel, titled, “The Anthem-Cigna & Aetna-Humana Mergers: A Post Mortem,” will explore the two federal courts’ decision to block the mergers. It will feature current and former Kellogg faculty who acted as testifying experts and behind-the-scenes analysts representing both sides of both mergers.

The panelists will discuss the key economic issues in the cases and how the healthcare system might have evolved if the outcomes had gone differently.

Mark McCareins, clinical professor of business law at the Kellogg School of Management, will moderate the panel. Panel experts include David Dranove, a Walter J. McNerney professor of health industry management at Kellogg; Cory Capps, partner at Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm Bates White; Aviv Nevo, a George A. Weiss and Lydia Bravo Weiss University professor at Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania; and Mark Israel, senior managing director at Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm Compass Lexecon.
