Gov. Roy Cooper signed Medicaid expansion into law in March, becoming the 40th state to expand the program under the ACA. Now, the state must find newly eligible individuals, including ensuring automatic re-enrollment for eligible individuals who may have lost Medicaid coverage during redeterminations, which started in July in North Carolina.
“We’re preparing for both a sprint and a marathon,” Alice Pollard, a vice president with the North Carolina Community Health Center Association, told the Post.
As part of the automatic re-enrollment process, North Carolina officials told the Post the state plans to enroll Medicaid-eligible people in its family planning program into the expanded program on Dec. 1.
