Molina Healthcare to buy NY Medicaid plan for $40M

Molina Healthcare entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Medicaid assets from a New York health plan, the health insurer said Oct. 16.

Under the $40 million deal, Molina will assume 46,000 Medicaid members from YourCare Health Plan, a nonprofit unit of Monroe Plan for Medical Care. The members are located in seven counties in Western New York.

Monroe and its affiliate MP CareSolutions will provide some management and administrative services to its members under the transaction.

Pending regulatory approval, the deal is expected to close in early 2020.
