Molina Healthcare joins S&P 500

Molina Healthcare, a managed care company based in Long Beach, Calif., joined the S&P 500 on March 2.

The company has seen substantial growth over the last year, primarily due to its strong Medicare and Medicaid performance and increased membership, according to nasdaq.com. Molina Healthcare now serves more than 5.2 million members, which is a 29 percent increase from 2020. 

Additionally, Molina Healthcare started 2020 with a market capitalization of $8 billion, but it has grown to $18.6 billion, according to nasdaq.com. 

Molina Healthcare is traded under the ticker symbol MOH. On the S&P 500, it replaces IHS Markit, a source of information and insight owned by S&P Global.
