Minnesota has ordered Salvasen Health to cease all operations in the state and fined the company $553,000 for selling unapproved health plans without a license.
Minnesota insurance regulators said they suspended the Houston-based company's operations in early 2022 after it was found to be operating without a license, offering unapproved health plans and failing to pay claims for covered services, according to a May 3 news release.
The state offered a special open enrollment for residents who had previously purchased health plans from Salvasen. Several states have taken enforcement actions against Salvasen or banned operations entirely, including Mississippi, Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota , Nevada and South Dakota.
