Meijer, BCBS Michigan launch co-branded Medicare Advantage plan

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Meijer will offer a co-branded Medicare Advantage plan in 2024.

According to an Oct. 2 news release, the plans will include a $660 allowance for members to spend on health and wellness items in Meijer stores. For members with chronic conditions, this allowance can be used to purchase groceries in Meijer stores. The plan will have no monthly premium or annual deductible.

"Partnering with Meijer, another respected Michigan-based business, will enable us to meet more of our members where they want to be, making the most of the resource," Krischa Winright, president of Medicare Advantage at BCBS Michigan, said in the release.

Meijer, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich., operates over 500 stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
