Four things to know:
1. Lyft first partnered with the BCBS Institute in 2017 to enhance healthcare access in communities lacking reliable transportation for commercial health plan members. Lyft extended its partnership with the BCBS Institute in 2018 to include rides to pharmacies so health plan members can pick up medications.
2. Later this year, BCBS Institute will expand its partnership with Lyft to certain BCBS Medicare Advantage plans. The ride-share company will provide rides to medical appointments, pharmacies and fitness centers for eligible seniors.
3. Lyft will also expand its partnership with healthcare transportation company LogistiCare to provide nonemergency medical transportation to hundreds of cities. Under the expansion, Lyft plans to extend its platform to select Humana Medicare Advantage plan members.
4. To accommodate Medicare Advantage members who may not have a smartphone, Lyft upgraded its concierge product to provide automated calls for riders.
