The Louisiana Department of Insurance is warning residents to avoid two organizations marketing themselves as health insurers without state authorization.
Innovative Partners and LifeX Research are not licensed by the LDI to sell or solicit health insurance in Louisiana, the department said April 21. The state said it has received multiple complaints from consumers who purchased what they believed were legitimate health plans, only to have their insurance cards rejected by providers. Because the coverage is not recognized by hospitals, clinics or physicians, those consumers were left responsible for their medical bills.
The LDI listed the following as legitimate, licensed individual health plans currently authorized to operate in the state: BCBS Louisiana, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, UnitedHealthcare, Christus Health Plan and AmeriHealth Caritas.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Fall Payer Issues Roundtable, taking place November 2–3 in Chicago, payer executives and healthcare leaders will come together to discuss value-based care, regulatory changes, cost management strategies and innovations shaping the future of payer-provider collaboration.
