“Good faith negotiations are continuing with Lifespan on a fair, reasonable contract in line with other local providers that will keep health care affordable for our customers and their families,” a spokesperson for Cigna said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
Both parties are hopeful that an agreement can be reached before the existing contract expires on March 31, the spokesperson said.
Lifespan is a nonprofit health system that features five hospitals; Gateway Healthcare, a nonprofit behavioral health organization; Lifespan Physician Group; and CoastalMedical, a primary care medical practice.
