  1. A group of physicians at Holyoke (Mass.) Medical Center is suing insurer Health New England over $2.5 million in reimbursements the company allegedly failed to pay for emergency room treatments, MassLive reported Oct. 4. 
  2. Elevance Health is facing a federal lawsuit alleging the payer received more than $100 million in overpayments from CMS, the Indianapolis Business Journal reported Oct. 5. A federal judge declined to dismiss the suit. 
  3. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is facing a revived antitrust lawsuit from the Anesthesia Associates of Ann Arbor over an alleged decadeslong scheme to control the state’s anesthesia market. A judge allowed the “Blues Conspiracy” portion of the lawsuit to move forward, which accuses BCBSM of working with other BCBS affiliates to dominate the market by not competing within each other’s geographic service areas.
  4. Centene will pay $14.2 million to Massachusetts, the latest state the Medicaid managed care organization has paid to settle allegations it overbilled state Medicaid programs for pharmacy services, Kaiser Health News reported Sept. 29. 
  5. A Delaware retiree advocacy group is suing the state over its decision to move retired state employees to a Medicare Advantage plan managed by Highmark Delaware, Delaware Public Radio reported Sept. 27.
  6. A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from GS Labs accusing Minnesota-based health insurer Medica of withholding more than $10 million in payments for COVID-19 tests, Minnesota Public Radio reported Sept. 21.
