The largest payers have a higher share of commercial and Medicare members than smaller plans, according to an analysis from Mark Farrah Associates.
In a March 21 report, the data aggregator broke down the share of membership between products for the largest plans. Combined, the five largest insurers have 38% of their enrollment in the commercial market, and a combined 22% in Medicare and Medicaid.
All other insurers have 26% of their membership in commercial products and 17% in Medicare and Medicaid combined.
Other types of coverage include standalone prescription drug plans, Medigap, dental and vision products.
