Kaiser will honor deductibles, out-of-pocket caps for Friday Health members in Colorado

Friday Health Plan members in Colorado must enroll in new insurance by Aug. 31 to avoid a gap in coverage, the state's division of insurance said July 17.

The state had previously said it would try to maintain Friday members' benefits through the end of the year.

"Diving deeper into Friday's finances after putting the company into rehabilitation, the Division became concerned about its ability to make it through the rest of the year. As a result, I am taking this step to protect Coloradans and the people enrolled in Friday, and to protect the open enrollment process for 2024," Colorado Insurance Commissioner Michael Conway said in a news release.

Kaiser Health Plans will honor what Friday members paid toward their deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums if they enroll in a Kaiser plan, at the insurance division's request.

Members enrolling in Anthem, Cigna and Rocky Mountain Health Plans will start over with deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for the year.

Alamosa, Colo.-based Friday Health Plans said June 1 that it would shutter its business.

In Georgia, Friday Health Plans members have until July 31 to enroll in a new plan to avoid a gap in coverage. Members in North Carolina and Oklahoma have until Aug. 31 to choose a new plan through a special enrollment period.
