The database will house a “substantial amount” of healthcare claims data for the public to use as a transparency and cost comparison tool, according to a Feb. 14 insurance department news release.

Onpoint Health developed the first-of-its-kind All Payer Claims Database in 2003 and has developed more than 50 percent of the established databases nationally since then, according to the release.
