Independence Health posts $239M loss for 2024

Independence Health Group, the parent company of Independence Blue Cross, reported a net loss of $239 million in 2024.

The company’s consolidated revenue was $32 billion, up $1 billion compared to 2023. Independence cited cost pressures in its Medicaid and Medicare businesses, including a higher level of medical acuity among its Medicaid membership.

Independence’s medical cost ratio was 91.2% in 2024, compared to 87.8% in 2023.
