Humana says tax law will drag Q4 earnings down $160M

Humana expects its fourth quarter earnings will take a one-time $160 million hit under recently passed tax regulations, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

As a result, Humana anticipates $16.44 earnings per share, down 6.7 percent from its previous outlook, Insider Louisville reports.

Humana’s shares fell on the news, as well as on reports it will lose about 300,000 prescription drug plan members in 2018. The payer’s shares decreased 2.5 percent Monday to a low of $257, recovering slightly to close at $258.55, Insider Louisville reports.
