Ms. Benjamin formerly led social impact efforts at Eli Lilly and Co. and helmed its charitable arm as president. In 2020, she chartered the Lilly Foundation’s initiatives to combat COVID-19 and racial inequity.

Ms. Benjamin begins her term Jan. 3 where she takes over for interim CEO Caraline Coats, who assumed the role July 1. Humana has since tapped Ms. Coats to lead its South Florida Medicare market.
