Over the last two years, Priority Health's maternity management program, "PriorityMOM," has achieved a 16 percent decrease in emergency room visits for pregnant members who may experience complications pre- or post-delivery.
To date, the program has also seen an 80 percent increase in breast pump claims, 37 percent increase in therapy visits and 29 percent increase in glucose testing. In total, it has served more than 1,200 members since mid-2021, according to a July 6 news release.
In addition to normal prenatal care, members are offered personalized information based on their gestational period and other educational resources about common pregnancy issues to support and reduce the total member cost of maternity care, preterm births and postpartum readmissions. Members also receive a free blood pressure cuff, baby sleep sack and breast pump
The program is open to expectant mothers enrolled in an employer-sponsored, individual or Medicaid health plan.
