How payers stack up on lobbying dollars

AHIP, the trade association representing health insurers, spent $13.3 million on lobbying expenses in 2022, up from $11.3 million in 2022, Politico reported Jan. 24.

AHIP was the sixth largest spender on lobbying in the healthcare industry. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America topped the list, with $28.3 million in lobbying spending in 2022, according to public filings analyzed by Politico. 

CVS Health spent $10.6 million on lobbying in 2022, ranking eighth in the healthcare sector. 

Cigna, ranked 12th, spent $8.6 million in 2022.
