1. Aetna reported revenue of $15.95 billion in the second quarter of 2016, up 5 percent from the same period of the year prior. The Hartford, Conn.-based insurer recorded net income of $790.8 million, compared with net income of $731.8 million in the second quarter of 2015.
2. Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna saw revenue increase 4.9 percent year over year to $9.96 billion in the second quarter of 2016. The insurer’s net income fell 13.9 percent year over year to $503 million in the second quarter of this year.
3. Anthem saw revenue rise 7.2 percent year over year to $21.46 billion in the second quarter of 2016. The Indianapolis-based insurer ended the second quarter with net income of $780.6 million, down 10.1 percent from net income of $859.1 million in the same period of 2015.
4. Louisville, Ky.-based Humana recorded revenue of $14.01 billion in the second quarter of 2016, up 2 percent from $13.73 billion in the same period of 2015. The insurer posted net income of $636 million, down from $793 million in the second quarter of 2015.
