Highmark posts $529M profit through third quarter

Highmark Health reported $22.1 billion in revenue and $529 million in net income in the first nine months of 2024.

The company’s insurance business reported $16.6 billion in operating revenue and $275 million in operating gain year-to-date, according to a Nov. 26 news release. Insurance headwinds include rising utilization, continued effects of Medicaid redeterminations, and high prescription drug costs, particularly GLP-1s.

Highmark has 6.9 million members across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, and New York.
