The two organizations will now conduct detailed discussions and perform necessary due diligence. The companies will have no further comment until the next phase of private discussions is completed, according to a news release. The estimated date of completion has not been disclosed.
Blue Cross and Highmark collectively serve more than 5.4 million members in 62 Pennsylvania counties and also provide coverage in Delaware and West Virginia.
