While neither party specified the disagreement’s sticking points, Tim Lancaster, president and CEO of Hendrick Health System, told the publication “these are ongoing contractual issues.”

A BCBST spokesperson said the payer is “discussing new contracts with Abilene-based Hendrick Medical Center, Hendrick Provider Network and Hendrick Anesthesia Network.”

Should negotiations fail, Hendrick Medical Center, the physician group and the anesthesia network would be out-of-network with BCBST beginning Dec. 1 or Dec. 9, depending on which plan members have. It is unclear how many individuals would be affected by the change.

Mr. Lancaster told the Abilene Reporter-News Hendrick Health System is in “ongoing discussions with Blue Cross Blue Shield and are committed to finding a resolution.”
