Florida puts $3.1B state employee health plan up for bid

Florida’s Department of Management Services is now accepting bids from payers to manage its $3.12 billion state employee health plan that covers about 170,000 people, according to Florida Politics.

Third-party administrators are being sought to manage the HMO, PPO and pharmacy benefits in nine regions across the state.

Any questions about the process must be submitted to the state by July 21, and answers will be posted Aug. 9. 

Bids must be submitted by Sept. 27 and negotiations will take place between Dec. 5 and May 5, 2023. The state expects to announce their pick on May 16 and have contracts in place for the 2024 calendar year.
