The ratings agency also affirmed the “AA-” rating on UHG’s insurance subsidiaries.

The ratings affirmation is based on UHG’s strong business profile and financial performance.

The outlook is negative, reflecting Moody’s Investors Service’s uncertainty as to whether UHG will be able to reduce its financial leverage to levels more commensurate with the insurer’s current ratings.
