The Office of Personnel Management announced 2026 federal worker health premiums this month, ahead of the open enrollment period.

The health benefits season runs from Nov. 10 through Dec. 8.

Shane Stevens, OPM’s associate director for healthcare and insurance, said nonpostal employees and retirees will see an average premium increase of 10% next year. For postal workers and those retirees, premiums will increase about 9%.

“We recognize that increasing healthcare expenses at this clip is not a sustainable path,” Mr. Stevens added. He cited federal waste programs, pharmaceutical negotiations and “Make America Healthy Again” initiatives as ways to address this steep spending.
