The update is a response to the Jan. 15 implementation of a federal requirement that private insurers cover the cost of at-home COVID-19 tests.
EmblemHealth’s guidance requires members to submit a claim form through Express Scripts to be reimbursed.
The payer also requires members to attest that a COVID-19 test was purchased for a covered reason, which bars members from using tests for employment-related purposes.
