Contract between St. Vincent’s HealthCare, Florida Blue will expire soon: 3 things to know

Jacksonville, Fla.-based St. Vincent’s HealthCare and Florida Blue have yet to reach a deal to keep St. Vincent’s in the Florida Blue network, even thought their contract has nearly expired, according to The Florida Times-Union.

Here are three things to know about the contract negotiations.

1. The contract is slated to expire July 1.

2. Neither side has disclosed details about the impasse on a contract renewal or indicated how many people would be affected, according to the report.

3. However, each side released a statement to the The Florida Times-Union. Donnie Romine, St. Vincent’s interim CEO, said negotiations have been ongoing for months, and the health system “hopes to resolve this matter soon.” Paul C. Kluding, senior director of public relations for Florida Blue, expressed similar sentiments, saying, Florida Blue is “committed to continuing good faith negotiations” and “actively engaged in discussions to search for a mutually beneficial contract agreement.”
