Providers in the Detroit area are the most likely to accept Medicare patients in 2022, while those in the New York City area are the least likely, according to a new survey from staffing firms AMN Healthcare and Merritt Hawkins.
The survey was released Sept. 12 and includes data from 1,034 physician offices in 15 metropolitan areas. The average acceptance rates are based on five specialties: family medicine, cardiology, dermatology, obstetrics-gynecology and orthopedics.
The average Medicare acceptance rate among the surveyed cities is 82.4 percent, down from 84.5 percent in 2017.
