Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna will open its 24/7 telephone help line to anyone affected by the shooting at Orlando, Fla.-based LGBT nightclub Pulse.
Cigna has deployed qualified clinicians to staff the phone lines and speak with people coping with loss, anxiety, fear or other gun violence related issues.
Members can call the telephone number listed on their Cigna membership cards. Non-members can call a special toll-free number at 866-912-1687 through July 8. Resources for physical, mental and emotional self-care during violent attacks are available at Cigna's website.
"Cigna's support lines are open to anyone affected anywhere in the country. If you are suffering or struggling, you don’t have to go through this alone. We're here to help," said Dean Mirabella, president of Cigna's North Florida market.
