Cigna CEO eyeing Middle East growth

Cigna CEO David Cordani said the company sees "tremendous opportunities for growth around benefits" in the Middle East after it sold off some of its businesses in the Asia Pacific last year, Bloomberg reported Oct. 5.

The Bloomfield, Ct.-based payer now has more than 800 employees in the region, up from 20 five years ago according to the report. Mr. Cordani said the company is investing heavily in technology, digitization, new clinical programs and talent.

Cigna announced in October 2021 it was selling its Cigna life, accident and supplemental benefits businesses in seven countries in the Asia Pacific region to the world's largest property and casualty insurer, Chubb. The $5.4 billion sale was completed in July.
