Earlier this month, the Texas Attorney General said Centene would pay $165.6 million to the state. Centene has paid settlements to Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio and Washington, in addition to other states not disclosed.
The settlement agreement is no-fault. Centene has denied wrongdoing in Massachusetts and all other states it has settled with.
Centene has paid a total of $489 million in disclosed settlements to these states, Kaiser Health News reported.
According to a 2021 Securities and Exchange Commission report, Centene created a $1.25 billion reserve to pay for these settlements.
