Centene moves to dismiss star ratings lawsuit

Centene has moved to dismiss the lawsuit it filed challenging its Medicare Advantage star ratings in court.

In October, Centene asked a federal judge to require CMS to recalculate its star rating without including a secret shopper phone call Centene says never reached its call center.

The agency later updated Centene’s star ratings, after a judge ruled in favor of UnitedHealthcare in a similar challenge. Seven of Centene’s contracts received higher star ratings.

In documents filed Feb. 11, attorneys for Centene and CMS asked a judge to dismiss the challenge. Each side will pay its own attorneys’ fees and costs, according to the filing.

Challenges from several other insurers over star ratings are still pending in court.
