Centene increases base salaries of CFO, COO past $1M

Centene has extended employment agreements with two top executives to boost their base salaries past $1 million and keep them with the company through at least 2024, according to Securities and Exchange Commission documents filed May 2.

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Andrew Asher’s annual base salary increased to $1,025,000 from $916,298 in 2021. Mr. Asher will receive an annual cash incentive bonus target of 125 percent of his annual base salary and a long-term cash incentive award target equal to 100 percent of his annual base salary. His equity awards will total $6 million in 2022.

In 2022, President and COO Brent Layton will receive an annual salary of $1.1 million and an annual cash incentive bonus target of 150 percent of his base pay. Mr. Layton will also receive equity awards in the amount of $2.6 million in 2022 and 2023. His annual salary in 2021 was $1,007,212.
