The percentage of Americans without health insurance is not significantly different from 2017, when the uninsured rate was 9.1 percent, or 29.3 million people.
In the first three months of 2018, 19.2 percent of adults interviewed by the CDC had public health insurance and 70 percent had a private health plan. Notably, the percentage of people under age 65 with a high-deductible health plan increased from 43.7 percent in 2017 to 47 percent in the first three months of 2018.
