Blue Cross NC will identify 900 eligible members based on risk factors like previous falls and health status. Green & Healthy Homes Initiative will work with local service providers to install home modifications that can help prevent falls.
These modifications include repairing or lowering thresholds, adding tip-resistant furniture anchors, repairing railings and adding safety bars.
According to a news release, falls are the leading cause of hospital and emergency room visits among adults aged 45 and older in North Carolina.
